Student Internships
Welcome to the Mind Care Rehabilitation Foundation’s Internship Program. We are excited to offer an integrated internship experience for students pursuing BSW, MSW, BA, MA, MSc Psychology, or Nursing. Our program provides extensive exposure to addiction and mental health care, guided by our team of experienced professionals. This handbook outlines the key components of our internship program, including training details, exposure opportunities, application process, and rules & regulations.
Training Period
- Duration: 15 days to 3 months
- Commitment: 20 hours per week
Exposure Opportunities
During your internship, you will gain practical experience and insights through various activities, including:
- Case History and Discussions: Taking detailed case histories and participating in discussions with mentors.
- Mental State Examination (MSE): Conducting MSEs under supervision.
- Therapy Sessions: Attending and observing individual and group therapy sessions.
- Client Evaluation: Actively participating in daily client evaluations with the Mind Care treating team.
- 12-Step Recovery Program: A thorough and analytical exploration of the 12-Step Recovery Program.
- Educational Lectures: Attending lectures by Mind Care service providers on addiction and recovery topics.
- Family Therapy: Observing Family Orientation Therapy and conducting Family Case Studies.
- Topic Analysis and Group Meetings: Participating in topic analysis sessions and group meetings.
- Literature Review: Reading literature from Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
- Policy Updates: Staying updated with national and state policies on substance abuse.
- Rehabilitation Infrastructure: Learning about rehab infrastructure through participation in various processes, including enquiry feedback, admission, routine management, and community service.
- Research Collaboration: Meeting regularly with the Research Wing for feedback and discussions.
- Yoga and Meditation: Attending and participating in yoga and meditation sessions.
- Case Presentations: Preparing case presentations and follow-ups.
- Documentation: Documenting and organizing tasks as directed by mentors.
- Treatment Modalities: Discussing and gaining insights into treatment methods with mentors.

Rules & Regulations
- Application Process: Internships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis after the selection procedure.
- Documentation: Interns must provide proof of current enrollment and a signed letter from their college indicating their intention to intern with us.
- Schedule: Interns must finalize their start and end dates to accommodate the maximum hours required. Sick leaves will be the only exception.
- Confidentiality: Maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards is paramount. Sensitive patient information must not be disclosed.
- Non-Disclosure: Documents shared with interns are confidential and must not be disclosed.
- Mentorship: Regular communication with mentors and submission of daily activity logs are required.
- Professional Boundaries: Interns must maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and avoid self-disclosure.
- Respect: All clients should be treated with respect and equality.
- Dress Code: A professional dress code must be adhered to at all times.
